Catechumens: Ready to pass through the door of faith

At the conclusion of the Year of Faith, Pope Francis will meet with those, who as adults, have decided to become Christians. This gathering will serve as a sign: That as the Year of Faith has come to an end, what continues is the commitment of every Christian to respond daily to the Lord Jesus, who calls us to be his disciples, sent into the world to announce the Gospel and to bear witness to the joy of a life lived in faith.

Invited to this gathering are all catechumens, their catechists, and all those within the Christian community who are journeying with these catechumens in their preparation to receive the Sacraments of Christian Initiation.

Program of the day:

• 14:30 Meeting time for all catechumens and those who are accompanying them
• 16:30 Liturgy of the Word
• Catechesis of Pope Francis to the Catechumens on the meaning of a new life in Christ and of discipleship taken from the Gospel of John 1:35-42.
  During this gathering, Pope Francis will celebrate the Rite of Acceptance into the Order of Catechumens for some of the catechumens

In order to participate in the Day for Catechumens, Diocesan Officials must register the catechumens, their catechists and those who are accompanying them through the following means of registration.

Further details regarding the day will be sent directly to those dioceses who have registered the catechumens and can be found on the Year of Faith website www.annusfidei.va.
